I have a nice layer of oil over my whole engine. Hoses, intake, etc. I wiped it all down 5 days ago and its already covering everything again. Air filter is covered too. It is almost like an oil mist, not an oil pool.

I have a leaking intake gasket. Could the oil be coming from there? Could it be bad valve cover gaskets?

Thanks guys

Any other fluids low? It may be a pinhole in a tranny cooler line, p/s line or something like that. to coat the whole engine it'd have to either be a bunch of fluid or high pressure. Look close to the fan also, that would help the "coating" issue.

Maybe it's the oil pan gasket leaking at the harmonic balancer. The spinning of the balancer could throw it around. Also, when the fan is turning, that'll spray any oil around pretty good.

Brian, I think you nailed it. I wiped everything down again today and drove it a bit then checked for leaks. I saw a drop come out of the front of the pan gasket. Kind of sucks though cause I'd have to pull the pan to replace it, right? Which means raising the engine etc. And then in the might as well mindset, I'd have to install the diy4x crossmember too...

Maybe I'll just invest in oil for a bit ;)
