Hi all I live up here in NE My trk is a 89 (born 9/88) I have a SRW GMC K3500 witha 454 EFI which has a oil pan I'm trying to replace,Well I could only find ONE yard that had a used pan.The yard donor trk was a 88 2500 chevy suburban that also had a 454 efi motor.WELL every thing seems the same EXCEPT the bolt pattern and theres a lip on MY trks pan frt and back. That the donor pan don't have Needless to say the donor pan wont fit.Can anybody tell me why the difference OR what I'm missing Thanks alot

IIRC the change took place in 1991 on BBC's. The early 2 piece rear seal oil pan is different from the 1 piece rear seal oil pan. Regardless of what year vehicle the donor engine is it may have been replaced with an earlier engine at some point in it's life.

All BBC oil pan bolt locations are the same regardless of year.

MAN thats weird.I gotta go personelly chk the junk yard motor tomorrow to make sure what it is.

I got the supposed Donor trks VIN I know N means EFI Does anybody know what letter number and how far in the sequence means it has a 454
THANKS

VIN "N" is a TBI 454. The difference is one motor is an earlier Mark IV and one is a later Gen V, the pans are not interchangable. Most of the crate replacement motors are the later Gen V, so either your truck or the donor suburban has a replacement motor.
