hi again
As I’m preparing for my transmission replacement, I need some pointers for oil pan gasket replacement.
I have already removed the exahaust and stater motor from the car, and once the trans will be out, I will remove the oil pan, and RMS. For my understanding, I will have to drop the front diff few inches in order to get clearance for the pan to be removed.
Few questions.
1. Is it eanogh to support the diff on a transmission jack, remove the 5 bolts and lower it, or I will need to remove some steering components?
2. Can it be don with the transmission out, or I’m better off dropping the pan a bit for replacing the RMS (I’m going to remove the RMS plate and replace the gasket), put everything back and then replace the oil pan gasket?
3. I have a felpro 1 piece gasket to go on. Do I need to use RTV on parts of the gasket?
I found some conflicting information on line, when some say to put RTV on the corner of the gasket near the fron and rear bearings.
As always. Thanks in advance.
