Yep, gotta remove the crossmember and replace with an aftermarket to be able to remove the oil pan. Without that, you just gotta raise the motor.Just to confirm there's no other way to clear the oil pan and remove it without jacking the motor up a bit right?
Losses motor mounts and transmission mounts, then either jack up engine or use an engine hoist to lift until the pan clears?
It's my 1970 gmc jimmy 4x4 with sm465 transmission

Yea it sux. You won't be able to ift the engine more than an inch or so bc the valve covers will hit the firewall. Do yourself a favor and get a modular/tube xmember from Kurt at Diy4x. I wish I did sooner before I removed the factory unit 4 times
Yes you can install it carefully with the engine in placeThis is what you're talking about right? Kinda spendy but I like that it also changes the motor mount style while at the same time it says makes removing the oil pan easier.
Would I need to pull the motor or just jack it up to install?

Correct. 6 inch suspension lift sitting on 35's@Cadden you have a small lift on yours, correct? It looks like it to me.
I ask because I don't know if that crossmember will clear the front differential at stock height. Kurt at DIY4X didn't know, and it didn't look like it would when we put one in a '72... so it got a lift!
