My truck 84 K5 with 305cid w/ 130k on it.

This has happened twice now in the last few years, no big deal but I dont like when things dont cooperate 100% of the time, lol. Anyways. On occasion when I start it up, the oil pressure gauge will only read 15psi, this is the factory dash one. If I turn the truck off and immediately start it back up, itll jump up to 35-40psi and stay there and act normal. The truck runs fine and all that. COuld I have a sluggish sending unit? bad gauge itself? the wiring im guessing is fine.

Anyways, just one of those things I thought id throw up to see if anyone else had this problem.

Its the factory electric oil pressure gauge. I thought I had changed the sending unit like 5 years ago, I guess they go bad. Maybe the lil hole in the sending unit is clogged, maybe ill pull it off and take a looksy. This is the unit beside the dizzy right? I know our trucks have like 3 diff. oil sending units for various things. I believe the one in the manifold is for the gauge.

don't rule out a ground problem either.

I replaced those units on a TBI once, but it has been a while I'm not sure where it is at.

should be on the back of the block or at the oil filter.
