Well.. I'm trying to hook up my manual gauge and I can't find the sender. My cheapo Chilton's book says its on the top of the block behind the distrobutor.. and that's what I've read searching here too.

Haven't found anything with a wire leading into it either.. but that doesn't surprise me since the idiot light wasn't working.

I found something that looked like a plug sticking straight up on the block beind the distrobutor.. but it is a small square plug. Is this what I am after? How do I get it out?

Any tips or tricks at getting at it? The only wrench I have that will fit it is so damn small I can't break it free :(

Thanks! That did the trick!

Got the gauge installed.. running 30 PSI or so at Idle.. that good? :)

Mine varies based on outside temps. I will run anywhere between 30 and 40 at idle once warmed up. When the engine is cold it idles at 50.

it's hard to say what's "good". the weight of the oil is another factor that makes a difference. i ususally run 10w40 dino year-round, but now, i have 10w30 synthetic blend i there. it runs about 5psi lower, but with no ill effects. i'd say that 30 psi is totally ok at idle, as long as it increases substantially at higher rpms.
