I have a very slow oil leak coming from the oil pressure sensor above the oil filter on my 87 Jimmy. I have tried everything short of cutting the sensor off to try and get it off but the sensor will not budge. Is there something im missing or should I just bite the bullet and cut it off?

got a picture? Should just be npt threads. Sometimes there’s a brass adaptor fitting and the direction to turn it may not be obvious, but cutting would be last resort because you’ll need to find a way to get the stuck threads out of the hole before you put a new one in.

yeah shouldn't be difficult. sometime a special socket or wrench is helpful, esp when putting a new one in.

Make sure you are actually making contact with the metal wrench/socket flats.

Shouldn't be hard at all to remove.

Finally got a chance to get after it yesterday, I found a pair of spring loaded crows feet for sale on amazon for like 25 bucks. I coupled that with 4 different extensions and a 36 inch breaker bar and it finally came loose. The old sensors threads were all sorts of gummed up with grime and it had a couple of damaged threads. For good measure I also replaced the brass fitting that the sensor screws into just so I would know that the threads on the new one wouldn't get damaged as well as put some thread tape on the new sensors threads.
