Oil Pump bolt torque spec? 65ft?

I like to use "titles only", simply cause searching the entire post is retarded. So, needless to say I've searched for the answer already and only come back with 3 pages of "hi flow or standard pump" threads. GEZZZ

Did I read the torque on the oil pump mounting bolt correct? Does 65lb ft sound right?

I have always torqued the oil pump bolt to 50 ft/lbs. I have never seen a spec in any book for it and I would be interested to know where someone seen it in a book.

50ft lb is what Ive always found and used.65 would be a head bolt spec or main cap bolt.

What Chiltons book do you have? I have every large Chiltons book that covers from 1964-2002 and none of them list oil pump bolt torque spec.

I got the Chilton 64-71 version and it doesn't specify the oil pump torque spec.I have seen 50lb several times from different sources and that's what I use and never had a pump fall off so Ill stick with it.Who's info is correct?

I have the Chevrolet Shop Manual #ST-330-85, PAGE 6A2-39. It's brown and has Chevy logos all over it. Mine calls for 65lbs.

PS> The pump I pulled out was a M55HV. The pump I put in is a 10553, but the body is still stamped M55. However, the 10533 is the thicker body and bolt area. Strange though, both looked damn close in size, even though one was a HV pump. Dunno
