hey all, trying to get the oil slinger on the stub shaft. Dont think I can hammer iton being it s kinda flimsy. Thanks for any help

I just installed some on my new stubs last weekend, used a hammer and long punch. :thumb:

I used a hammer and tapped it on. Oh it is not an oil slinger it is called a stone shield and keeps dirt and crap out of the spindle.

ok hammering it isnt working. Just bounces off the other side when I do it.Trying really hard not to beat the $hit out of it, but im about out of patience

ok So I just wrecked one shield. What can I do to make sure this next one goes on?

I beat up the edge of mine some but they survived. What is torn up, the small inner dia or the large outer shield itself? If the large shield area is still ok I'd give it a go again.

Mine were kind of like a tight wheel seal - they want to rock / wobble around until you get a good bite on it. Once you get it started a good sharp hit will usually get it going.

What is happening is im getting one side to seat but it is the same side every time, then I cant get the other side to go down for anything. Gonna try again

heated up went on with a couple of good whacks. It aint pretty but the important part is undamaged. Now for a beer cuz My BP is through the roof.
