Oil stains issue

Ok I'm still new to this (no mechanic here). Monday on my day off I was changing the oil in my K5.... and I stupidly knocked over the 5 qts of waste oil onto my driveway (blacktop asphalt). I had some Oildri and used it to get up all of the excess. That done HOW THE HELL DO I PREVENT (REMOVE) THE OIL STAIN? Please need help badly... (not my house)

Ive had pretty good luck with some of the off the shelf citrus type degreasers some water and a scrub brush. Be aware the asphalt is oil byproducts and rocks/aggrate so it may remove some of the fines if you go at it to hard with the brush and chems. One option if you get it clean but still stained is to hit up a hardware store for a pail or driveway coating slurry or fogseal type top coat to hide everything.

Simple Green MAX does a great job on concrete, it'd be worth a shot on asphalt.

Now I feel old!

Back in the day we had a tank of plain ol' freon to hose the stains down with. Worked great!

I've heard from some of the old timers at my job that they used freon back in the day to clean all types of jet engine parts, and when they got crap on their clothes, a shot of freon made everything right again.

I've had pretty good luck with some of the citrus based cleaners on concrete too.

I've been working around aircraft since '89. They were just starting to outlaw freon @ then I think.

Hell, we didn't know @ chemicals. We'd clean the nasty stuff off our hands & arms with MEK (methyl ethyl ketone). nasty stuff.

No wonder my liver is konking out.

Breath top coat fumes all day. (jet fuel proof sealant).

Didn't need drugs!!

Ah, to be young and indestructible again!
