I'm looking to finally get my oil temp sensor working and will be looking to weld a fitting to the oil pan. Q: I have a wire feed welder running .35 flux. I assume I'll need to convert to gas and .25 wire?
I succesfully welded the drain plug bung back in the oilpan on my sons '87 Sunbird with .035 fluxcore. I believe it can be done, but it's also an excuse to buy more toys (gas conversion). Practice laying beads on an old oilpan if you can get one.
best place to install temp sender is in the cooler line out put from the tranny. this will give you total info on the tranny working temps . as the oil leaves the tranny first then gets cooled and retuns to the pan.
