well, i've searched and searched and found a lot of good reading on diesel vs. gas converters for a TH400....but my question is kind of specific.

right now, im my "MUD TRUCK" i have a 350TBI/700r4/np241

i will soon be installing my stock 454TBI(with very mind cam)

i also sourced a TH400/205 from a CUCV(M1028) and i was wondering which converter i should go with? this truck will only really be used in the mud and around my house...will not get driven long distances on the road(more than 5miles or so)

also, where would be the best place to source a new flexplate/torque converter??? i would be happy with a used one to be honest with you...

thanks alot guys

depends on where your motor makes its power and what you wanna do with the truck. If you got some monster motor with a huge turbo and it doesn't even make any power until 5grand then you want the TC to lock up at high rpms. if its a diesel tow rig and you are makin 600ftlbs at 1000rpm you want a low stall to start using that power quick and get the converter locked asap so not to build lots of heat.

Mud = High HP and RPM so a higher stall than stock would make sense so you can get the motor spinning faster before the trans goes to work.

Rocks = need for torque and low RPM operation. Having a lower stall will help get you going at the lower RPM and reduces heat in the convertor which is hard on the trans.
