Ok first off I changed the trans pan gasket and filter on my blazer. It has a th400. I have put 4 quarts in and there is no fluid showing on the dipstick. I checking it hot with it in park.

Problem 2 The trans dipstick itself is loose as can be. I have tried to locate where it is supposed to be secured to but no luck. The attachment to the trans itself seems to pretty loose and covered with grime.

And last but not least one of the engine oil cooler lines seems to be leaking. Is it possible for them just deteriorate? I ask Cuz the fitting at the block isnt leaking. Anyway What do I ask for when ordering a new one?

As usual thank you for all info

How much fluid the trans will take when doing a filter will depend on if it has a car pan, truck pan (deeper than a standard car pan) or an aftermarket deep pan. Measure how deep the pan is from the rail to the bottom of the pan. If it's a deep pan you also need to make sure it has the correct filter in there as well.

The trans dipstick should attach to a bell housing bolt 3rd up on the passenger side. There should be a bracket welded onto the tube.

There were two different types of fittings used on the trans for the cooler lines. Some are straight thread and used a gasket between the case and fitting and most were NPT threads. Unscrew your trans line and see if the fitting in the case is loose.

Ok will measure tommorow and check for the bracket when I have some sunlight. The lines are for engine oil if that makes a difference. The actual hard line that connects to the block is dry and free of grime. The leak or overall messyness:D comes from the hose itself or maybe even right where it connects to the fitting. Is there a way to tighten that or Is it time to replace it?
