Last April 25th I got a set of four BFG TA KO 33"-12.5x15" I have had problems with the beauty rings creeping around my Ralleys every since they were installed and finally took them back in and Discount says one is out of round. They have 400 miles on the set. Of course the old style is no longer available they are offering to replace it with a TA KO2. I dont like at all the idea of one tire not matching and I bitched a bit they offered to replace a pair of them so I had one new set one old set. I have no idea what would be my best choice but I am not thrilled with any of these offers although I am not an ass and know he can only do so much. I was hoping he would put off the problem to the maker and get me a full matched set of the new style but so far no luck on getting that done. They did move the bad tire to the rear thinking that might help some while I gave it some time to think on the subject. Any suggestions or ideas of what you would do in the same situation or if you have ever had similar problem. Any tricks to getting your way with BFG/Michelin or Discount tire?
Thanks PG

No I have not done anything further then posted. I like to always give a manager the chance to do what he can plus I wanted the opinions of what is the right thing from you folks here.
I just went and got it they moved it to the rear and I didnt actually feel the problem in my short drive.
The manager did say if I found a match he would refund me the cost but ordering one online what are the chances it will be a left over problem tire also?
They had a new one old stock on hand it was significantly worse out of round then this one he said.

In my mind, to make it right, they need to replace the defective tire OR replace all 4 with a similar tire. District Managers or someone else on the corporate level has more juice. He's already offered two tires so you're halfway there.

33x12.x15 is the tire size?

I've bought tires twice from tire-easy.com that were NLA from most retailers. No issues with those tires.....

Yes that is the size. If I find a good one of the old style he has offered to pay me what it cost but I dont want a screwed up one to show up in the mail. PG

take the two new ones, buy 2 more and sell the old ones on CL? Sounds like they need to contact BFG and have them fix the problem..

Have them replace the two and In a week run nails into the sidewalls of the others. Get them replaced with the certificates.

I I can't remember the last time i paid full price for a set of KO's. Start looking worn I get some flats.

They are only required to replace the tire with close as possible btw, if the KO no longer existed they would put the closest match based on specs and look.

I can look to see if I have any older style ones at work tomorrow, if you'd like.

I recall a local tire shop having a "tire lathe" that they used to shave down "egged" tires with, when one of the bigger off road tires had high spots and couldn't be balanced..this was back in the late 80's when Dick Cepeck and similar "monster" sized tires started getting popular..

I've seen a brand new tire delivered to my friends shop, that had a BOLT imbedded in the sidewall!..good thing he spotted that before he installed it,the delivery guy's jaw fell open, when he pointed it out to him...guess "new" isn't always "good" any more ?..

I have heard of this problem with BFG for a couple of years now. Which is why I didn't buy a new set. One guy had 2 get out of round in a set in 6 months. Those got replaced, but then 3 months later, a 3rd did it and he was out of luck.
So get a good warranty if you buy BFG!
