They do get awesome mileage, ask anyone here. I'll say this... This K5 is the first diesel pickup I've ever owned, and I'll NEVER go back to a gasser, EVER.

Nah, I'm just waiting for the right K30 someday with a 6.2 to use as my work/tow/haul/parts chaser truck. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif I have heard about these motors and the mileage they get.

Take that a step down calicide/forums/images/icons/tongue.gif. Even a Stock 454 will have more power then a stock NA 6.2.

Yup, no arguement here. 454s are sweet powerplants. I just don't like the idea of single digit MPG figures when they're really getting into the powerband.
A turbo is in my K5's future. I won't have to worry about power envy for very long... /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I don't know the torque specs off the top of my head so I hedged a little bit. Even though a big block does make more power, I still don't want one. I like driving for a few weeks on one tank of fuel and still having the torque to easily keep up with traffic even with 37" tires.
What with the carb and the distributor, it takes so much work to keep a gas engine running it's a wonder why anyone even bothers....

Banks turbo'd 6.2L makes something like 200hp and 350-400ft/lbs of torque measured at the rear wheels./forums/images/icons/cool.gif

UPDATE!! I want this motor GONE!!! I want anybody interested in parts off of this motor to make offers. If no offers, it's going to the junk yard and I will put sand in the motor just so no one can try to use it.
BTW, the radiator and shroud are probably already sold.

ps - I have a 6.2 and like it, but I'm not going to argue that it's better than a 454..LOL. If I had the time and money to swap in a mildly built TBI 454 that 6.2 would be gone!

$1600-1800 depending on area. If you pay $2000, which is full retail, you're getting taken. Installation can be done in your garage with common tools.
How much would a gasser SBC or BBC cost to build up to the aforementioned numbers? Would either get near as close in gas mileage? Nope.

Those are pretty close to what my engine makes completely stock. 240HP and 385ft/lb of torque. that is not rear wheel though. give me just a cam and i could probably get there.
