I installed a new window in my tailgate . Now I need to replace the rubber swipes . I can't figue out how they go in with the glass in . I know how they go but am having problems getting them down in there and locking in ? Does one side in go on before the other ?

You mean the felt runners for the sides of the rear window inside the tailgate? If so I think the only way to replace those is with the glass removed...

No those have to be replaced as an assembly . I am talking about the ones on top of the gate .There is one on the inside of the gate and one outside of the window

OK...those also have to be done without glass installed. I hate K5 tailgates, nothing easy repair/restore wise.

The only problem with that Rene is if you install the top gate seals with the window out, then you can't get the window in cause the sash is wider then the seals will allow you to get the glass back in.

I have done it. The easiest thing to do is get the window down all the way. You will find it is easiest to install the inside strip first, then the outer. It was a total pain for me. If you are using old weatherstrip, it is going to be a much bigger pain in the butt, since it won't flex like new stuff.

Basically, start at one end and work your way to the other. Once the first clip is in, you will need a small screwdriver to get the remaining clips to lock into the slots.

The older the felts, the easier, because it gives the window more play. I just did the outer last week and it was easy. I start with the clip at one end and work my way to the other. If you have new felts in the tracks, you migh try loosening the bolts that hold them in place to let the window mover more front-to-back as you work.

If it's anything like the felt installation on the front doors, than WD40 will be your friend. That is what I used liberally on the backside of the felt, then I was able to slide the felt down the track.

I couldn't get those glass seals in with the window in place. The rear glass came out of the runner track when I was removing it. PITA!!!!!

I should have done the felt runners when the glass was out. I have no idea how to get the glass out now that I have with new seals in place.

Well I am installing new rubber and figured I need to replace the felts too . Any Ideas where to get the felts ?

I got some window sash felt from a friend at a glass shop and glued it in worked great so far. A whole lot cheaper than buying new trackes.
