okay, I need help with a transfer case!

My wife (PlumCrazyJimmy) just bought a '79 Jimmy, but the np203 transfer case is going bad. She wants to have a np205 like mine, but I need to know which years I can use. Does anybody know how many splines her np203 has? And what years of np205 has the same?

If the 203 is behind a th350 its 27 spline (this is most likely). Any NP205 that came from behind a TH350 would work. Its a direct bolt in swap-minus drive shaft lengths, if you get the adaptor, sleeve, and shifter with the NP205.

The spline count is 27 as her Jimmy should have a TH350 tranny. Any 205 from a TH350 will fit regardless of its year. The Th350/205 combo's started somewhere around 71 and ran until 80 (last year for the 205 in a 1/2 ton).

Be sure to get the adapater and shifter with the 205 as these are different from the 203.

Note, 205's from other tranny applications (especially one from a 4spd) can be modified to fit your TH350 fairly easy if you have trouble finding one.
