ok everytime i see one i forget to ask. but what is with the old 70's long bed 2wd big ten chevys? and if anyone is wondering what i mean, on the rear bed sides, where is would say z71 or 4X4 it says BIG 10. so im just wondering what it means and why its there, i have seen about 3 or 4 crusing around town as old farm trucks so i know nobody slapped stickers on them so help me out will ya.

The Big 10 and the Ford F-150 came about for the same reason. In the early days of unleaded fuel and catalytic converters, the rules applied only to vehicles with a GWVR of 6,000 lbs. or less. GM and Ford upped the spring rate on their C-10 and F-100 to just over 6,000 lbs. and called them the Big 10 and the F-150.

K5's had a GVWR of right at 6,050 lbs. during that time, so they also escaped the cats for several years.

What about the "GENTLEMEN JAMES" edtion that GMC made, what was that all about?

There is a big 10 camper special near me. The only catch is it came factory with a 454. Thats right Halfton 454 powered. The guy just started replacing body parts last year. Its 2wd of course

Also To go with the goofy names a friend of mine had a dodge and on the back of the bed it said Cowboy special with a picture of a cowboy hat. I didn't see anything cowboy about it. My father has a 79 dodge and it was setup with a plow from factory and it has Snow Commander on the side with stars over top.
