I have a 86 k5 Silverado with most all the options but mostly swapped out driveline or rebuilt. I also have a 91 4x4 3/4 ton burb Silverado that I put a ff 4:10 axle under to replace the axle under it that developed a whine at about 70k. What is the 91 3/4 ton axle called so I can research if it is any good to put money into? I have just spent about 1k on Yukon parts and new 3:42 gears in the 86 and I used a 80 c10 12b. The 86 is on it's 3rd 700r4. It has a 350 ramjet tuned by Arizona speed and marine and a phoenix tranny with a 2 inch lift and 32's and that's a little more lift than I like for mostly hwy driving. I am in the process of building a second 4 bolt main vortec with the ranjet intake and computer that is the mefi4 config that is programable for a weekly driver burb. It has the first year 4l80e with the factory tbi now. I broke the motor, my first in about 40 years pulling a trailer on a grade wot. Probably a valve head by the sound. I know the k5 really needs a set of 3:73's but it it so little driven pulling light loads that I'm thinking I can get by with the 3:42's. I also have a 93 4x4 1500 that is gonna be the new going to hunting buggy. I have some nice 15's on the blazer and already had the late 12b and that was my thinking but with tom's axles a Yukon limited slip carrier and ring gear set with ssb rear disk, maybe it's ok but just to know if I ever need another 8 bolt set up I would still need 8 bolt front hubs and wheels and tires. The whine was barely noticible with pretty quite exhaust but probably needs a new gear set and all new bearings, I don't know if it might have the g80 or not, I didn't try to decifer the glove box stuff, I am the third owner from new on both the k5 and the burb. I also have a 96 1 ton single rear wheel truck with a good very low mileage rear axle that is 4:10 I think is right, but it is 2wd. I could use that axle but the pads seem be a different spacing from my square body trucks. I think my 86 k5 is good to go but just wanting to know what the 91 3/4 rear axle is called to research it for using later. I also have a 75 or 76 k5 that is pretty clean good floor and all, with a late model 305, and supposedly rebuilt xfer, and a clean factory dark red interior, it was a good deal and has been under the back awning on my shop several years for a project. I put the factory wheels off my 86 on it for something to set on. I would describe my jeep j200, j10 and Cherokee but that would be for a jeep forum or my scouts and internationals but you get the idea. just the axle description please.

The 3/4 axle you are thinking of may be the 9.5” ring gear 14 bolt “semi float”

This link is located in the resources buttons up above. It’s buried a bit

thanks for the link, of course I didn't find the resources chart but mainly because I didn't think to check such a nice feature even thought I have used auto forums a lot in the past. I can blame it on age I think. If I can find a set of 8 lug hubs for one of my front 6 lug axles I might figure out the whine sometime for a update on my projects.

I may have a set of 3/4 ton axles up for grabs soon. Never ran em, don't know what's in em as far as limited slip ect. ect. Don't know what year they came out of. I do know they have 410s in a 44 and 14bff.

somehow I screwed up the reply and clicked on the choices and it went to conversation somewhere. anyway, I have bought axles that have been setting out in the weather and without pulling the cover and spinning them over to check the bearings they are not worth much to me. I have learned this from letting a axle set up under my shop awning. it never got rained on and still got rust pits in the gears and axle shafts from condensation I guess. I would be interested if they were known to be good before the drive to Austin.

does anyone know of a set of 8 lug hubs that will bolt on to the front axle of the 86 k5? or what year they might be on?

Any d44 or 8.5" 10bolt axle hubs will work on your axle.
I might end up with a front 8 lug axle in a month or so, but now I have a set of 8 lug hubs available but missing one backing plate. They are external locks and I have the locks for them.

the freight to tx would probably be too much and would be more than what they would cost locally probably
