today i got a great deal(free) on what i think might be a cool winch. i found this ramsey that looks to be a worm gear driven its pretty darn big. the part number shows DCY200R539 it is at least 10 years old. it was in this old warehouse that my dads company is renovating. anybody know anything about these? /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

I don't know how to read the part number
for free any winch is great
I wont use anything other then a worm gear style
I like the safety of not needing an add on brake
they are inefficient and suck power compared to other gear designs but brick shithouse tough
anything 8000 and up is good, the bigger the better
spend the time and $ to feed it with good cabling and a dedicated deep cycle
my old worm drive outpulled another new 10000 Warn a couple weeks ago, might have been a 12000 but I never got close enough to see the label
