Letting my CRS Disease work overtime. Is a '88 to '94 700R4 or 4L60E? What transfer case do the '88 to '94's have? I know that you folks out there with '88 to '94's will think this is a stupid question, but I'm still in the '70's range. Sure would appreciate the help!!

The 700R-4 and the 4L-60 are the same tranny. The designation just changed. The older ones are just 4L-60's and the newer computer controlled trannies are 4L-60E's.

I think it was 89 or so that the NP 241 replaced the NP208, that info should be i the specifications table that Steve has. There is a link to it from the home page.

I'm pretty sure the 4L60E came in the trucks starting in '93. Before 93, I knew people who disconnected their '88-'92 K1500 speedo/odometer cable to save mileage(a$$h01e$) and make their trucks worth more to trade or sell. In '93s they found out the 4L60 wouldn't change gears with the cable disconnected! That learned em!

Thanks folks!!! I think I got it figured out. I am just not really up on the newer vehicles.

Yeah, but now all they have to do is pull a fuse for the dash gauges and it will do the same thing. Just no info on the motor or speedo.

I am proud of the mileage I put on my vehicles. I think it makes a statement when I can say...My '89 S-10 w/a 4.3 has 288,500 miles on it. And on the original motor and one trans replacement. How's that for proud.
