Olds 455 Rocket into a \'79 K10?

Looks like I'm trading my way into a healthy 455 Olds Rocket motor and thinking about using it in my '79 K10/20 to replace the tired 350. I know there are some adapter plates available cheap for the bellhousing bolt pattern but what about the flywheel? Are they internally or externally balanced on the 455? Anyone know about motor mounts?

I may be wrong , but since all modern Olds V-8's are similar (deck height determines big or small block) and the Olds diesel was based on these and offered in Chevy trucks, you could probably use mounts from Chevy truck with Olds diesel engine. The other questions I am not sure about. /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

That Olds motor is one of the widest engines ever built. The exhaust ports are also very low. You will probably need some custom headers for it to fit. /forums/images/graemlins/grind.gif

He could probably modify the exhaust from a Chevy truck with Olds diesel to fit in the engine compartment. 455 is just slightly taller deck height. /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

BBO is just about 2" wider across the intake, FWIW. If a SBO will fit, so will a BBO. (or darn close) /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

They swap BBO into cars that were never designed for anything but a SBO/SBC (78-88 A/G bodies) so fitting one into a truck won't be a challenge, at least as far as size is concerned.

A friend used Chevelle headers in his Jimmy when he swapped in a 402BBC. I wonder if Cutlass headers would work? It will should be a torque monster. Go for it Kenny.
