OMG has anyone seen the 2003 chevy trucks in person yet??

stick with the ugly stick... guns get enough bad press besides, why waste abullet on a brain thats obviosly not working...

My local dealer had a mother of all tow rigs on the lot last time I drove buy....Said KODIAC on the side. loaded Crew cab, Had a low utility bed on it with plenty of storage boxes. Was set up to pull fifth wheels. Hmmmmm I wonder if my wife would use it as a daily driver? She would have the biggest SUV on the block that's for sure! /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

i'm trying to talk the wife into a 2500HD but i don't think she's diggin it /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

Well, I hope you don't have the same problems as my little brother or I will be passing you when you are sitting on the side of the road with electrical problems. He has an new Dodge with the Cummins and it has been in the shop 6 times already with electrical problems! /forums/images/icons/mad.gif Needless to say he is really regreting his decision. But never fear, I would stop and give you a pull to the nearest shop! /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif

I think it is funny to hear all of the Dodge and Furd guys say they bought their rig because it is cheaper. Getting what you paid for really is true, especially when it comes to vehicles! If not we would all be driving Hundais! /forums/images/icons/smirk.gif

Did y'all see that GM finished 3rd in the quality ratings this year(number of problems per vehicle sold), which happens to be the highest any domestic manufacturer has ever finished!!!! /forums/images/icons/grin.gif I will have to say that Furd pulled themselves up from last place last year to fifth place this year.

Go with number 1! Buy GM!!!!! /forums/images/icons/grin.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Come on Chris, you can do it! You just need to work a little harder to earn some brownie points! Scratching up the tailgate on your truck isn't a very good start! /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

what happen to trying to have a TOUGH truck not a sissy truck? the '03's are UGLY I think the should got back to the '00style where the crome in the grill was rounded and there was no raise in the hood THOSE LOOK NICE.

hehehhe yeh good point. now i've started in on the well lets buy one thats a year or two old and save on all that markup /forums/images/icons/wink.gif and i have seemed to spark her couriosity. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

7000 miles in 2 months, not a single problem yet. Not to say that there wont be, but there's lemons in every make. My last ford was the biggest pos from the day I picked it up. I have heard rumors about bad electrical systems, but that's all covered in my 100K warranty anyway. I've got a buddy with a dmax that's already replaced an engine, a rearend, and rear output shaft. And the tires they come with suck, his are bald at 25K. But it's all a tradeoff and there's lemons in every bunch. Now let's drop this and continue it when both our trucks have 200K and we really have something to compare!

You are 100% correct! You can get a bad one with any make. I hope niether one of us has anything to complain about at 200K!!! /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

but I think I would still take a Furd F350 powerstroke over the GMC

[/ QUOTE ] Me too!

My whole opinion on HD vs SD comes down to one thing SFA vs IFS. The SD looks better too IMO, but I love the "power dome" hood on the HD. Its a real throw back to a 67-8 Chevrolet.

i actually dont mind the look... its the IFS that repulses me...

I felt the same at one time. For my off road rig, no question. But, for my daily driver and tow rig, I would have been just fine with 2WD *most* of the time. The only reason I got 4WD was the occasional camp/field/snow issues that a 2WD just can’t deal with. So, I’ve got the 4WD on the HD for what *I* will want it for. It will have no problems there. Plus, I have the behavioral benefits of the IFS *most* of the time, almost as if it were a 2WD. I see no major draw backs to the IFS on this rig. It’s rather heavy, at least better than the ½ tons. I also have NO interest in lifting it or putting bigger tires on it (I have 33s with no lift). Only small issue is higher repair/maintenance cost if/when things break. If, in later years I want to make it my primary off road rig (Wow!!!) with a lift and big tires, then I’ll have no problem slinging a Ford HP D60 under there (assuming I can find/afford one) and I’ll be good to go. Not that much different than all you K5 guys upgrading to D60s and I’ve got the benefits of IFS now while towing.

To each their own…

Exactly! And, what Idiot is going to take thier new $45K rig into that woods anyway????? Give me the ride of the IFS in my tow rig any day over the buck-board ride of that SFA!!! /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif

Mike

well of course, if u plan on being on-road and never modifying the height of your rig, IFS is sorta ok. I dont like it because a) it is more complex and therefore harder for me to work on b) if u do decided to lift it it costs BANK even for slight lift c) axle articulation LOL! yeah, ok! d) there are still strength issues with most IFS set ups... and beefing them up is incredibly expensive compared to straight axle beefs. e) i have never had a problem with the ride quality in my rig... I dunno maybe the springs/shocks are just right or whatever, but it feels down right cozy to me. Not as smooth as an old Caddy... but then if you had ever riden in the back of an unladen military 5 ton truck like I have... you wouldnt mind my Jimmys ride at ALL. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

OK Ill have to agree w/ you BadDog. As long as your not going to try to get hard core w/ it IFS is OK. For every day driving and towing it is more comfortable to ride in and drive.

And now....
In reply to:

[/ QUOTE ] Come to Florida, youll see a bunch of $45000 rigs being romped on every weekend. I know of 1 guy that had 2 SD's on 40 Hawgs in one year. He traded in the first to get a Power Stroke. Another guy I knew had one on 38s. There is a newer (I dont know what year but its 2000 or newer) Ram 350 running around town thats on 44 Swampers. Same age range Ram 150 on 36's (maybe) also and another on 35 Boggers. I passed a lifted Excusion today. Damn I just realized theres quite a few Dodges running around town. /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif Not to mention it seems like I am seeing 1-2 lifted Blazers that I havent seen before every week. /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

I see plenty of Poser SD mall cruisers around here with LARGE tires, but I have yet to see a single one of them on the trails. If I did see someone out beating the crap out of a $45K rig, I would know right away that they definitely had more money than Sense! I could build one incredible off raod machine for half that much money, and it would be much more capable. /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif

I'm quite happy with my comfortable 2500HD with IFS as my tow rig, and I will use the 1 ton K5 when I feel the need to beat the crap out of something. /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif

Mike

Nah the guys I know w/ the SD's really use them. Ive seen the aftermath. LOL! The one on 38s had tweaked the motor some also. It ripped! He had a fully loaded Lariat and took the carpet out for a vinyl floor mat after he sunk it. The one on 40s I have seen covered in goo from bogging it.

I do have to agree, more money than sense. /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif
