heh, Anyways, my gf's '96 Tahoe needs new shocks worse than just about any vehicle I've ever driven. It wallows and jiggles worse than anything. Just like one of those old as mid 70's boat cars. It's one of the really nice ones with leather and all the bells and whistles, so I'm thinking that it has fairly soft springs to help it ride nice too. But this is beyond bad. Anyone got an idea of what shock might be appropriate for this app? She doesn't really want to spend more than $50ea max. I can help out a bit too though. Can anyone make a reccomandation on this? I'm not used to trying to buy stuff for a dd...My shock buying criteria are that the shock be as long as possible to help with flex. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Anyways, my thoughts were that whatever shock we get needs to be fairly stiff to help control the softer springs? She wants it to handle better more than anything, ride quality is secondary for the most part. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Bah, Parts store shocks suck. She knows enough to know that $15-$25 Autozone shocks are not what she wants. I'm lookin for aftermarket/performance suggestions...Rancho, Pro-Comp, Skyjacker etc etc.. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

I'd think anything that cheap in an aftermarket like we think would make the ride rougher. I'd think some nice Bilsteins will do. They will probably be more like $60 a shock.

My cheap Autozone Gabriel rears look just like my ProComp rears ( which are up front ) . I think they come from the same manufacturer. They ride nice and soft, but still allow it to soak up bumps. /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

Oh okay. How about some bilsteins then /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif

We put the Monroe's on all our company trucks.. They seem to do all right. For the price. We overload them with tools and stuff..

I see Sears sells Rancho shocks now--I wonder if they are the same ones,or a cheaper "Sears only" economy version. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

There is nothing special about a rancho shock other than name. They're the same as a Monroe or Gabrial that you'd buy in an auto parts store. Ranchos are just hype, that is about it.

Bilsteins are FAR superior as are any monotube.

KYB makes monotubes for stock trucks as well, I can get them through my work although they're special order and take 1-2 days to get.

Hmmm....Bilstiens would be waaay cool, but I think the $234 on shocks will be a hard pill for her to swallow. Hmm....Food for thought /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

I think $234 is way to much for shocks, for a truck she doesn't plan on keeping. Maybe she should get a diesel.. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

lol, For the record, diesel_chic is my gf, her name is Jamie. /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif
