like it says I am planning on replacing the tailgate since it’s split and man what a headache...
End result couldn’t get the nuts/bolts off under the truck that help the spring in place so had to cut the spring..

Plan on replacing with a standard non window truck tailgate and was wondering if this will be an issue?
Do I need to make sure get the springs from another truck or are they needed on a standard window free truck tailgate?

On a good note got the top off and started prepping for herculiner and all surface rust but one spot ...

The blazer tailgate weighs 3x of a truck gate. No springs required. Just make sure to grab the hardware off of the donor truck, including the rubber grommets that keep the gate from rattling.

TYVM somim guessing 73-84/will work?
Does that include silverados etc...

73 to 87 pick up, just match the hardware with same year gate. Silverado's, Yes, although Silverados will have a fancy trim on them...

Make sure all the captured nuts/threads in the tailgate posts are in good shape, as the truck tailgate mounts in a completely different way than the K5 one does, and those mounting points have never been used. If they are rusty or boogered up that makes a 1-hour swap into something much harder. I put some swap info here: https://ck5.com/forums/threads/swapping-k5-to-truck-tailgate-and-lift-glass.334230/

Ya great info that’s where I got my ideas from, wish u woulda added an in detail pictured disassemble and install instructional..lol
Maybe u could even come do the work for me.....
All bolt holes were fine when I checked as I screw the cable end itto the free holes for now as place holders

I did show pictures of how the parts mount in my other thread, where I rebuilt the back end of the body: https://ck5.com/forums/threads/repa...lacing-the-tailpan-and-floor-patching.333499/. Basically you mount the parts like the picture below, except the earlier design has the latch and link mount separate. Adjust the bottom hinge mount until the tailgate sits at the right height, then adjust the latches until it closes to the right depth. If it's loose the tailgate rattles. It it's tight you have to really slam it. You really need the wedge-shaped rubber bumpers. The lower ones seem to be just for keeping the links from rattling.
