if i had money i'd get a roller valvtrain and new heads and be done with it.
ANY IDEAS, no matter how farfetched are appreciated.

collapsed lifter is nothing like saying "ditch that cam and get a roller setup. Where did that come from? Sounds like a timing or ignition issue to me. I've never see a carb blow back(flames through intake) unless someone sprayed lots of carb cleaner down it or the ignition timing was off badly. I have seen it happen on a perfectly fine motor but that was an alcohol race motor not a stock 350 with mild camshaft. Are you certain you timed the cam properly? Could easily be opening the intake valve when your ignition is firing or something.
