Bought a viair compressor for my 87 burb...it's rated at 23 amps, and has a 30 amp in line fuse. There's not alot to this equation, but the fuse keeps poppin.I've checked the ground..it's good. I tried to just bypass the inline fuse, but that just super heated the wire. The compressor seems to work fine when I hook it up to a battery charger set at 6 amps. Help? [email protected]

I'm just using the wire that came with it..it's hard wired. It's mounted on the driver's side wheel well, the wire runs around the firewall to the battery.First I tried hooking it up to the terminal that's by the brake booster, but that popped it too.

Check the draw with a VOM. You may have a bad unit. The equipped wire should not get hot.

Make sure you didn't inadvertently cut the insulation on the wiring causing a short to the body. Sounds to me it's a bad unit.

Well you guys have confirmed what I'd figured....just wanted to make sure I wasn't being a retard. FRUSTRATING!!! Thanks for the responses!
