I was reading the tech article about OBA and was wondering why you have to change the oil in the compressor, that and why change it to motor oil? Yorks come stock with ester oil, is it b/c the oil is contaminated w/ freon? If so I have a brand new york that has never been run, so do I still need to change the oil to motor oil or keep ester oil in there.
Thnx
Jesse

From everything I read the only reason they switch is becuase you carry motor oil in your truck already so if you need to add oil its in the truck.

you might want to pm muddytazz i thing he is in the process of dooing this alos onboardair dot com has all the stuff you need for the york compressers /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

I don't think that the compressors are too picky about what you run in them. I put Mobil 1 10w-30 in my York since that's what I run in the engine.

For On Board Air, you can use a typical motor oil (10w30 for example) in the compressor. Some components in the OBA system is not compatible with synthetic oils. Caution must be used if you plan on running a synthetic oil.
