its been awhile since ive posted, i cant wait to get my paid membership back. i miss the pics. but the title is more why im writing. i have a 85 swb k10 no motor/trans, has 6 lug axles.its rust free! i already have a d60/14bff, & i already have sm465/np205, i took out of 84 k30, along with a hydro bell & pedals i bought from member here some time back. i even have a hydro brake booster with brake pedal that goes to it out of the 84 k30 but it was mech clutch, was thinking of maybe doing that much later.

. i have a swamprunner 12'' lift, 44'' super swampers with 50% tread. i have the wheels. i have everything for crossover steer except the tie rod that goes from 2wd box to steering arm, i even have the lift block for the steering arm since im going taller than 8''(all we have is mud, DEEP mud). but i stalled out when i bought a 87 c2500 crewcab a couple yrs ago, mainly got it for the tbi 454 to go with everything else into the 85 swb. but now i think i want to convert the crewcab & put all my stuff on it but im intimidated by the conversion.

also when i planned on using the 85 swb 4x4 i was going to nix the 4'' blocks that came with the 12'' lift for diy's shackle flip..its actually already on the swb truck, the shackle flip, not the lift...so ive been dragging my feet for several yrs now while i gathered other parts. trying to decide what i was actually going to do. well im ready to do something but still not sure what. just fyi, i also have a 80 k5 that has 3/4 ton 8 lugs under it, but a blown engine & th350/np205 that needs refreshed, they worked but leaked fluid bad. so do i put a set of 4'' front springs on the swb to level it out then fix it up as a driver or sell the thing, spend the cash on my k5 to have a smaller toy/daily driver, since it already 8 lug or sell both 85 swb & 80 k5, buy one of these

for the crewcab conversion, or ????? what...just another fyi, i have a 92 swb 4x4 that has good drivetrain minus rearend, i was going to put motor in the k5...i just have had to many irons in the fire and my health waivered on me abit, thats why ive been away but im some better and im ready to ease back in but would like to hear what & how other members would go about this. should i sell all 3 trucks and find a k30 crew to begin with? ...thoughts?

heres the crew

sorry this is so long, but i have no one else to talk too, im an only child, a former marine, and most people find me abrasive because i have no empathy my therapist has said & i am severely ptsd..i miss ck5 ...i remember awhile back i was robbed right before christmas & i told the story here & another member offered to help me buy christmas but i just couldnt except, ive never had anybody care like that, this "brotherhood" seems too & i dont even know yall really. sorry again so long but i feel im wasting away and ive said before that ck5 is my therapy..thanks for listening ..if this needs to be in lounge please someone move it or delete it if im too whinny:doah:

I did a 2wd to 4wd swap on an 89 crew. It was alot of work, but would have been worth in the end. I never had time to work on it, and also didn't have the proper tools needed at the time to finish it. I ended up selling it and getting another car that is in my sig. Now I just my job back in April, have all kinds of time, just no money and nothing to work on really.

I'd go for the crew. I'm married (soon to be NOT) and only one kid, but it's nice having the extra room for buddy's or whatever. You have most of the parts to do it, so might as well do it. I wish stuff up here was that clean....

I'd convert the crew cab with the 1 ton stuff and maybe do some parts swapping to the K5 or the SWB and have two trucks. The 2wd to 4wd swap looks straight forward, just time consuming. But I really like crew cabs, so I could be a little one sided.

In all honesty, for a mud runner id use the ugliest one of the bunch. As far as dents, rust, etc... To me the k5 looks like the body is alot more rough than the cc or the 85. But really, id use one of the newer body style rigs and save the square bodies :waytogo:

Im usually the odd duck out....
I say build the short bed or the K5. If you need 4 doors for kids thats one thing but it drives me crazy to go through town and see every truck on the road is a 4 door and almost all of them only have a driver in them.

I have a crew cab project, then I thought about it and realized there is NO reason for a single guy with no kids (me) to have a big huge 4 door truck.

And personally 4 door trucks are ugly, functional but ugly! The proportions are dumb. Hard to beat a reg cab short bed or long bed for looks alone.

I disagree totally, I think the sheetmetal on a CC looks killer, especially with no bed...

and I'm single with no kids running around in a CC... tho the back will be for a pooch soon...
