Small modifications can improve mileage and add power

Is this the 1979?
Do you have emission concerns?

79 GMC Jimmy no emission concerns I have a guy..

Some cam and some compression

9.5:1 and .450 or so lift
I have a guy too

@folkenheath is the man for engine parts

I agree, rebuilding it already, get the correct intake manifold, pistons and camshaft for more power reliably. Also cylinder heads if the budget allows, and the correct tune with carb or EFI. These things can make a 260 hp three fiddy into an easy 350 - 400 HP three fiddy.

I am in the middle of a 383 stoked SBC swap now. My 350 SBC was tired. A aluminum head 355 SBC with a cam and intake would be a solid option.

What intake, pistons and cam do you recommend for the power and reliability?

That depends on what the application is and what you plan to do with it, gearing, tires, vehicle, how you want it to idle, etc.

Based on your current statements it appears you aren't wanting top end HP.

Do you want more low end, mid range? What is your transmission and do you plan to change the converter or leave it stock?

Any towing? What is your budget?

I would say low to mid range, currently have a 350 tranny but would want a 700 in it eventually for better highway driving, and no towing.. or maybe like a small lil trailer or atv trailer if that...

For you I would use some KB hypereutectic pistons, a hydraulic roller cam, and some aluminum heads if it fits the budget. Long tube headers are best for torque and power, though not everyone wants to run them.

Now, which heads, pistons, and cam depends on your exact application.

Please answer these questions the best you can...
