ONE BIG JIMMY "Everything In TX Is Bigger!"

Thank you guys!
Steering brace is in the works. I opted not to do the weld in " might regret that" but I have put quite a few blazers thru the ringer and never had a frame crack yet but I am ordering a bolt in first of next week

Well in true fashion like any other gear head would do I could not leave well enough alone!!!

I sold the 5.7 SBC and the 700R4.

Because I just needed to buy this!!! :woot:

2001 LQ4 6.0 with a 4L80E 121,000 miles on it
I actually got to drive the truck around before they pulled the combo ran like a spotted ape!

I got all the wiring and computers, engine and trans for $1400.00

Bitchen! Swap will be a lot easier too with no body on yet. Build is looking good

That's what I was thinking when the deal came up.
Better to do it now than when it's complete.

Thanks man!

I have done a truck load of info searching on the 6.0 swap and exhaust has been an issue that I did not like at all. Im not notching the frame for a stock 6.0 truck exhaust manifold and I'm not going to run an EGR. I do not like the looks of a egr block off plate on the manifolds either.
I know I 'm picky!

So after doing a bunch of reading I ordered these 2012 Camaro exhaust manifolds.
They are take off's from a never ran crate engine with no EGR.
Perfect and they hug the block tighter so they will not hit the frame.

$145.00 bucks shipping included

I also did some research on fuel pumps and came up with this little gem on specs of fuel pumps.

http://www.ls1truck.com/forums/lsx-truck-conversions/3718-fuel-pump-tech-101-please-read.html

I wanted an in tank pump and this was the ticket for me so I ordered the airtex E3270 and rock auto has it cheaper than anybody around.

Since my motor has a fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail I will be using it as well.

I will have more on the install of this pump soon.

Just finished going through your build and it looks great man, I'm thinking about the LQ4 as well so I'll be following.

Thanks man!
Let me know if you do it I have all kinds of info and links to reference material I can send to you.
I have been researching the install for over a year

I'll let you know, I've got a freind who says he can get one with engine harness and ecu complete $800.

Ordered these radiator hose adapters from jtr "jags that run" so I can go from the lq4 radiator hoses to the 6.2 liter diesel radiator with no issues

The inlet and outlet of the radiator is a 1 3/4" O.D.
And the upper lq4 hose is a 1 5/16" I.D
And the lower lq4 hose is a 1 17/32 which is close enough to get the 1 1/2" hose adapter to work for me.

I have the hoses on order rock auto

Now all I need is the constant tension clamps for the hoses

The quality of these are awesome!

I was looking into the wiring for a lq4 swap and noticed that i will need a relay for the starter and fan or fans and some fuses here or there. i know i am going to do the headlight relay upgrade. So I went to the junk yard and picked up a fuse block out of a early 90's dodge Dakota
This thing is sweet and it has all the relays and fuses I will need to make it work. It has a perfect mounting application and a lid to conceal it all to keep the install as clean as possible
My thought is that it will mount to the inner fender and the inner fender well on the drivers side near the washer bottle.

I wished I could say I came up with this on my own but I saw the idea on a forum about a year ago and ran out and got 4 of them over the last week or so for future projects.

Nice build, read up on sealing the knock sensors with silicone while y have it apart.

Radiator adaptors are sexy

I see now!
That's a great idea!
That will happen for sure
Thanks for the heads up on that one!
One was rusted so bad that it almost fell apart taking it out.

After doing a truck load of reading and emailing people that have done LQ4 swaps I decided to go with the Dirty Dingo sliding motor mounts.
This should be able to let me slide the motor forward or back that way I can mount the trans as close to the original 700r4 location as possible with out drilling hole in the frame or notching cross members.
I really am shooting for a bolt in conversion that looks like it came from the factory with the engine in it.
