Thanks for asking!
It's a pain in the buttocks!
I go to dr tomorrow and he is going to let me know when I can start putting weight on it again
So hopefully he says I can tomorrow and then the slow process of building the muscle back starts
Looking forward to that !
But I will be really looking forward to tossing these crutches I have been on for ever off a bridge!
and just be careful and try not to overdo it... setbacks suck, I've done it after a couple of my knee surgeries (of 6)...
my second surgery I had a pool skating contest 5 weeks later... not a smart move, probably set me back a month or 2 when I tweaked it on my last run... just couldn't resist....
This is number 5 on this knee and a last ditch before they replace it
They did a cartilage transplant on the right knee
The load bearing portion of the knee all the cartilage was destroyed so the took a plug of bone and cartilage from the non load bearing and put it where I needed it
And now for the pics
Graphic surgery pics below!
eesh, that blows.... they're doing some good work with the replacements these days..
mine where 2 cartilage jobs, 2 lig stitch ups and a full ACL on each..
they where talking pretty serious about replacements for me like 10 yr's ago... but since I stopped skating vert about 5 yr's ago, they've been doing surprisingly well.. the only time they bother me is when I get fat and all the ladder work during fall shrinkwrapping season...
Crap you have had your share as well
Thanks again for asking!
I will let you guys know how it all works out tomorrow
I just can't wait to start working on the ride again I got parts starting to stack up and it's driving me nuts that I can't go out there and stand and put them on my good leg gets tired quick holding up my big a$$
Ok back to business!
I got a package from Brown Santa yesterday and he brought me the last remaining piece for the front of the motor to make this holley ls ac bracket work and that's the tensioner pulley.
The instructions from holley say that you need a gates pulley part# 38194 which is off of a 2001 ish corvette.
but in the fine print you have to have another pulley from dayco part# 89059
So now the instructions say that you have to swap the gates grooved pulley with they dayco smooth pulley to make it all work right due to the new routing of the belt
I will show pics once I get it all mounted up
The belt sizing will be next once I get the ac compressor and all the pulleys mounted up and ready to go
In a couple of the pics from the ac compressor add you might be able to see that I have a fan mounted up
This has been a fun little project that I did not write about yet
STOP before you guys that want to run or do run electric fans beat the hell out of me. I have an electric setup waiting on standby just in case this does not work!
So I really wanted the clutch fan for several reasons of my own it has brought some headaches with that like most projects do.
Here are some of the issues I had with this since I'm running the 6.2 diesel radiator from a 86 CUCV the fan shroud was a little shorter than the blades could reach. I purchased a new stock fan blade and a new clutch for the lq4 well that left the blades a little to far out of the shroud for the cooling to work properly
So I went hunting on the Internet for a longer shaft clutch or a spacer.
On a couple of ls forums I found out that there was a spacer that was made by Chevy for the 8.1 but nobody was sure if it would thread onto a lq4 water pump. I also found a guy that made a 1" spacer but was not able to locate him and see if we could get one of those. But then I found a guy that posted a dodge fan clutch that had a longer shank and it would thread on the water pump.
I went to my local O and found a guy that was willing to help because he is a k5 fan.
Got all the parts latex on on the table showed him what I was needing to find and we went to work.
I ended up with a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 heavy duty reverse rotation snow plow option clutch fan about $54.
Here are the pics of the difference in the stock lq4 heavy duty clutch and the dodge clutch
The Chevy on the left the dodge on the right.
So visually you can see the dodge has a longer shank and should get me closer to the shroud
Some people say that it will wear on the water pump because of the extra length. We shall see I look at it this way. If a crappy dodge water pump will hold the longer shaft maybe just maybe my Chevy water pump will do it.
So now you can see the spacing difference from the Chevy fan clutch to the dodge fan clutch
It's not perfect but much much better and now I can space the shroud out a little bit with some back spacing and it will be all good.
The angle is off a bit on my picture but the fan actually sits now about 1/4" inside the shroud and if I space it about a half an inch on the shroud it will be inside enough to do the job.
If you where running the v8 fan shroud you should be sitting inside the shroud no problem.
Been kind of quite around here and still down on the leg but was able to install the egr delete and the purge valve delete today. Very nice quality and very easy install
I ordered them on eBay from ICT Billet
Got the tow haul switch from a friend of mine today.
He purchased a 2008 Chevy 3500 van for the lq4 and I was able to do a little horse trading on some parts.
So now I have to look up the wiring for this switch so I can use it when I haul a trailer
I'm trying to see in the gauge surround where I want to put the switch.
I also have a diesel surround and the area where the idiot lights are above the speedo and the fuel gauges is where I'm thinking about putting the tow haul engaged light.
