ONE BIG JIMMY "Everything In TX Is Bigger!"

Got some goodies back from powder coating!
Satin black to match rims.

Johnny @ Crosslink Powder Coating in McKinney, TX and his crew have done a great job on everything I have taken them.

I also got the bumpers and all the rest of the trim pieces. They are wrapped up to keep them from getting messed up during transport

I will get some pics when I unwrap them.

Holy crap, this build is nuts! Nice job man! I may have missed it in the 23 pages of one hell of an incredibly well documented build, but what kind of paint did you use on the frame and other bits. That stuff looks legit! I couldn't be more jealous of your rig.

Thanks man!

On the frame I went with a silver vein powder coat.
The inner fenders and core support is a semi gloss black powder coat
The skid plate and some other goodies are gloss black
Axles are painted to match gloss powder coating
All the Trim on it inside and out will be satin black powder coat

This is an up close shot of the silver vein coating
It blends really nice in person with the 99 Chevy Gun Metal Grey body color

Thanks!
Everyone does some form of black on the frame
I wanted it to be different but not take away from the rest of the build

It was a big gamble but turned out worth every ounce of work to get it done!

Just read through the entire build, love the attention to detail! On a side note it makes me want to push my pile outside and start over.

I went with the ORD big block crossmember
Off road design did a great job on making it
Bolted right in no issues at all and it has plenty of room for the 6.0 Oil pan

Looks as of this second to be right at 7"
But I bet I end up with a solid 6 after some use

Got a few goodies in over the week
AN6 fuel lines
AN10 oil lines
AN10 oil cooler
Pile of seals for the top

In my quest to keep the engine bay looking like the factory did this swap I purchased the 2007 Tahoe overflow reservior.
I will have to make a few mods to get it to mount correctly but I like the way it looks

The overall goal for under the hood if to make it look as factory as possible
I started to layout the reservior and factory air box
I also have the factory battery trays for the left and right side
But what I'm seeing is that with the factory battery tray on the passenger side and the factory Chevy HD air box and the 07 Tahoe overflow it takes up too much room and will not let me mount the accumulator for the AC

So, I removed the passenger side battery tray and set the air box there and the overflow right next to it and installed the accumulator for the AC
That gives me plenty of room but I will have to come up with a dual battery mount for the drivers side

If anybody was ever wondering what they used to seal the evaporator box with I did some research and found that it is a 3M rope seal I ended up getting it from Oreilly's and its a little pricey around $27 but it gives you enough to build two boxes and seal around the lines coming out.

I rested the filter box in the battery tray as a temp solution when using the stock air inlet. Now that I have put in the Vintage Air system it freed up some room on the firewall. However I used the Dingo compressor mounts, Great quality and fits awesome, which replaces the stock tensioner and puts the 508 compressor a bit higher than the tensioner. Now the stock intake does not fit because the stock air bellows is in the way of the compressor. I may have to fab up an air filter box. @NTXJIMMY, what are your thoughts on your filter box and air inlet for location?

I actual am in the process of modifying the stock bellow. I have already cut off the lower moisture catch. I'm not sold on if the stock one is going to work out to well. I might have to use a tube kit like the Airaid universal intake kit.
I'm sold on using the stock air box due to me being on the factory look quest. To some fault I am making it harder on my self to make it that way but I think if I stick with it I will work it out and it will be the way I want it.

Here is a pic of the Airaid kit it runs around $100 on eBay
