Well I went to replace my drivers brake bulb yesterday, the bulb was fine, so i checked the power...nothing, I then unhooked the weatherpack down nearest the pigtail and checked for power..

This was my first misstep, as i didnt realize the dark green wire was the 4 way blinkers and had power when the brakes were on. so thinking i was checking the yellow wire i thought the problem must be in the pigtail or sockets.

Much profanity and stripping of electrical tape later i Found a GOOD multimeter and checked my resistances, the problem isnt there. I then checked the power to the main part of the electrical harness...nothing to yellow, but power to green...Maybe the PO rewired it wrong, so i tapped the green wire into the yellow wire on the pig tail

I basically now have breaklights, but my turn signals are 4 ways. The Passenger brake light works fine, so is there another connector, maybe above the gas tank, where the problem could be?

I guess while i wait for an answer I will go unscrew what i screwed up...

Green = Right turn
Yellow = Left turn
Brown = Tail lights
White = ground

Do your hazard lights work? If so then I would suspect a bad turn signal switch.

The turn signals worked fine before, my shameful wiring solution is the problem with that.

The one brake light being out was the main problem.

Which wire would be for the brake lights then?

The brake lights are also the green and yellow.

Ok so you were right in the first place 4x4high, Its a problem with the turn signal switch. I undid my non fix, and started checking other things, and magically, after i turn the 4ways on and off the brake light started working.

So next time i pull the steering wheel i will put the new I got sometime ago in.

Nope, not the turn signal switch. You found the problem when you turned the 4 way off and on.
Its a common problem. The turn signals also go through the 4 way switch. While the turn signal switch gets switched back and forth, the poor 4 way just sits there lonely and unloved.
As a result, crud, dust, and dirt builds up on the open contacts and in the switch in general.

Eventually one day something moves it slightly. It might get bumped while you are driving, or just a good hard jolt in the road. The switch contact moves and some of the dirt winds up underneath.

90% of the time, you can just switch it off and on a few times hard, and its good for years.
But, either way, if moving the 4 way fixed the problem, replacing the turn signal will not help unless they are all one unit.
