I asked about this fitting on the back and top of my carb a while back:

I believe the general consensus is that it needs to be run into the air cleaner housing. I dont see any port to connect it to on the air cleaner housing..
What is this fitting for anyway, would it hurt anything if I just plug it?
Thanks very much,
James

That's a filtered air port. (look at the opening on the carb just forward of the fitting, that's where it gets its air)

Typically GM used them as the feed side for hot air chokes, although I'm sure there were plenty of other emissions uses as well. :)

No vacuum there, so if you don't need the "clean" air it can provide, just cap it.

This is an electric choke carb. How do I know if I need the "clean" air it can provide?
thanks very much,
James

choke is independent of vaccuum ('78?). Cap it until you need it.
