Backstory,

We had our blizzard last week centered over the Christmas holiday. Something like 18" of snow. Nice drifting and generally pretty nasty.

Crewcab was snowed in pretty good. Got it out of the drift without too much trouble once it was in 4 wheel drive. Shifters aren't finished yet.

Somewhere along the way I tossed some ujoint caps in the front shaft at the tcase. So, rather than just pull the shaft and continue to drive it and tempt fate I switched to the shop truck for short term usage.

The shop truck is a 1982 Chevy k30. 454 under the hood. 0" of lift and we're running 36's on it. Mainly to help with mileage which did help some.

This is one of those trucks that refuses to be put down. It starts on the coldest of days. Always runs the same. Its just down right dependable. If I had to give it a personality, I'd call it the energizer bunny. If I had to drive across the country today, I'd definitely consider using it. This morning it is -15* F. It fired right up and idled on its own in a matter of seconds. Just a damn good old truck.

Dont you love that? I had a 79 k20 that was like that. Worst mistake ever was getting rid of it.

Thats how my trail rig is. For starting with a rusty $800 truck, that motor is so damn dependable.

My 78 K20 was the same...350 engine T400 203 and 3.73's great plow truck and never let me down....except for that one time with the front axle ujoint crapping out in a snowstorm....the night from hell it was.

Here's the truck we call the scrapper.

Not sure what they call it but yeah, they like the stuff. It's some mixture of things these days but it sure does cause rust.

-7 this morning and the old girl popped right off like it was 75* outside. Purred "like a turtle" for a few minutes and smoothed into "like a kitten."

Nice trucks guys.

cyber, I love the shop truck. Bet folks don't park too close to it in parking lots.

Not sure its ever been any place high brow enough to be considered a parking lot.:haha: Driveway, shop. Shop, Driveway. That's usually about it. Once in a while it makes a trip to a Junkyard or scrap yard. Another time it made a trip down to pick up a bridgeport and a coldsaw.
