I remember someone posting how to bleed a hydro clutch using a vacuum pump or something like that. Anyone know what I'm talking about? It wont build any pressure and I've replaced all the parts (mc/hose/sc). I need to get my wifes Burb running again but cant seem to get this clutch figured out. Right now she works the clutch while I open/close the bleed valve. Worked in the past, but doesnt work now.

Thats the thread I was looking for! And I think that air bubble is the problem. One of the other MC's I tried has a clear top and I could see the air bubble. THe new MC is colored, but I 'spect it is still the same bubble keeping me from bleeding this bastard out. I'll try to remove the whole setup in one peice, but I think my frame rail is too close to get the SC in/out attached to the line.

Now all I have to do is get this thing rolling so I can get the clutch pack swapped out (AZ gave me a High Perf clutch that has doubled the size of my left leg:eek1:)

I have fought these for years. Last time I just pumped the slave cyl instead of the master and had it bled in like 5 minutes. I don't think I even opened the bleeder.

HOLY CR**! That was easy. What I've spent three days working on in the truck took 45 min with it out of the truck. MAybe the other MC and SC were still functioning. Good thing I always keep stuff around just in case the replacement doesnt work (learned that lesson long time ago).

Thanks for the help!

In a pinch,I have used a long peice of vacuum hose (3/16") and stuck it on a vacuum fitting on the engine that has suction at idle (manifold vacuum) ,and used it to suck the air out of the bleeder ,on both brakes and hyrdo clutch slaves..the small amount of brake fluid the motor might inhale wont harm anything and might make some smoke--.

...if your anal you can make a simple vacuum bleeder out of a glass mayonaise jar,by soldering two peices of 3/16 brake tubing into the lid,one short and one that reaches the bottom..fill the jar with brake fluid just deep enough to cover the longer tube, and hook the vacuum hose to the short nipple..I use vise grips as the on/off valve to control the suction..it works slick, and since I'm alone 99% of the time,I have had to bleed a lot of brakes this way..

I have a vacuum hand pump, but could never get all the air out for the clutch to work properly. Having done it now, I think remving the whole system as one piece and bleeding it, then re-installing as one piece works awesome.

i tryed everything on and off for around 2 weeks. the pull it all out and blead it up side down master worked. had it done quick. took longer to pull and bolt back in than blead.

somthing about cheep a$$ masters with that elbo with the dome inside holding the air bubble.
