one step closer to ECBB = 541ci

just wanted to tell someone, i got my 500 caddy crank back from the machine shop yesterday. offset ground the rod journels from2.50" down to 2.20" to hold 6.8" BBC rods. this changed the stroke from 4.304" to 4.595". indexed, shot-peened, & nitrited the crank. now all i need to do is mock up rods & crank in the block double check the rod hiegth in the blk & order a set of custom Ross pistons. that should take about another 3 weeks to get them. gonna be cutting it close on making it there.:D :D but trying like hell.

i really don't know,,, gonna port the crap out of the heads to try to feed it. it will not be enough though, so it will be head limited.

i have talked to several people who have built them & i hear that i should make between 450-550hp & 600+tq. several peeps w/ this combo say they make so much torque below 2500rpm a dyno can not process what it is, but u know how people exagerate.

With a 4.595 stroke the question is not how much hp but how much TORQUE. (alot unless you forget to install a piston or 2).

I love the caddy motor plan and you are taking it up a step or 2, but you know w/ that bore/stroke ratio its going to rev like a diesel.

Not that that's a bad thing:)

22/7=3.1428571 (pi)

3.1428571 x 4.33"= 13.60857 (circumference)

13.60857 x 4.595"= 62.5313 (cubic inches per cylinder)

62.5313 x 8= 500.25 cubic inches
What am I missing?

my equation for displacement is:

pi/4 x bore x bore x stroke x 8 = dispacement

.7854 x 4.33 x 4.33 x 4.595 x 8 = 541.305191566

u figured the circumference & then multiyplied it by the hiegth. that is not how u figure the volume of a cylinder. both of the equations are below.

circumference = pi x 2 x raduis

volume = pi x (raduis squared) x hiegth

to figure it your way it would be

cyl. volume = 3.14 x 2.165^2 x 4.595 = 67.6629907202

67.6629907202 x 8 = 541.303925762

Use a high quality air filter with heavy wire mesh or you're lible to suck smaller particles into the engine.......................

like jeeps and toyotas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek1:
