about being a member is being able to see attached pictures!!! that really got to me hahah. So im going to go through all the pictures I can. I do have a question too, instead of nonsence. I got tilt steering in my 85. Well, its really loose, like you can lock it in one spot but it will move up and down a kind of big distance. What can this be and can i fix it myself?

you need to take the entire steering colomn appart until you find the four little bolts that are loose, remove them and put locktite and titen them back up. it took me 5 hours to do it but the end result is a nice correctly working tilt steering colomn.

remove!!!
steering wheel
clock spring (horn spring)
colomn lock
turn signal stock
tilt lever
colomn shifter
ignition switch and rod
and
anything else until you get to the four bolts that hold the tilt mechanism together

GM Tilt column fix is in this thread here scroll down to post #5.

And here is an exploded diagram so you know what they're talking about. The bolts that usually come loose are #41.

there is a lot of stuff there! its a manual, so thats a tad bit less to deal with. This kinda scares me! i never needed to pull myself into the truck with the steering wheel but i move it up and down every time i get out

I learned the hard way about pulling myself up with the steering wheel. It ended up like yours. I tried tightening the bolts but that didn't even work. Worth a try though, before replacing the column.
