I know theres a lot of talk on here about the conversion, but i found a 77 k30 srw d60 front 14bff rear for $750. How involved is the swap from this platform to a 90 blazer. Blazers diesel if that matters. Need the info quick so I can go get it in the am if it will work....Dave

Whole truck for 750, not just axles. T400 trans i might swap in too....Dave

jump on it...i had mine done @ a shop in pomona ca so i didnt have a hand in it myself but from what i see its pretty much a bolt in swap...

I guess you need to move the spring perchs on a one ton but thats alright, any body else got a yay or nay...Dave

Do it. That's a pretty good deal for the whole truck.

You should plan on doing a little cleaning and other things so that you can go through them and replace the necessary parts (seals, bearings, hubs, etc.). The rear spring perches will have to be reworked but don't get in a rush because you might want to tilt it up a little (to each his own there) and the shock mounts can be picked up elsewhere. You will also have to get a conversion u-joint to use the driveshafts you have. Save up for a SYE on the 241 and get the HAD shafts and driveshaft brake. I think the cables are different or the rear brakes from those years.

It's easier than it looks, especially with all the info available.:wink1:

There's a drive shaft e brake that mounts behind the transfercase offered by had. Looks pretty cool. Calling on the truck in the am....Dave

no need to relocate spring perches on SRW axles, they're a direct bolt-on. For real cheap, just use shims to tilt the pinion up towards the t-case.

I hope you're already calling on the truck, I say do it!

I will add: I think you do have to move the perches, even for a SRW axle, because the one ton frame (and thus spring to spring width) is different than a 3/4 ton. I'm not positive on this though, just what I've read elsewhere on here.

I've read a lot about the various 14b ff options and how to make them work, but is the d60 front a direct bolt in in this case? Even shock mounts?

Sorry bud, the 1 ton perches are 40.5" center to center and a 2nd gen blazer is 42.5" so they WILL need to be moved.

The D60 is a direct swap with maybe the exception of the brake lines. If the brake calipers on the D60 use the 10mm banjo bolt then they're the same.

Buy that truck now! That is a great deal on a k30. The rear perches will need to be moved. 1-ton trucks have a different rear spring spacing than the 1/2 and 3/4 tons.

I guess I got this wrong again, I thought this only applies to DRW axles. Thanks for refreshing my memory. :D

When swapping out a 10 bolt for a 14 bolt you will need to get the rear dive shaft shorted.

later
