Ok so for graduation my present is one ton axles :D I'm real excited but I'm kinda coming to terms its not gonna happen for a few months since I'm gonna do this right the first time. I cant decided whether or not I should wait to buy Hi-Steer before I put it in or just buy it later and put it on... Either way what the hell is the cheapest hi-steer? cause it sure as hell isnt $300 like it was for my yota... I"ve seen ORD's for like $800 and Skys for like $650.

id would buy the arms that have the 2 holes for hi steer, then its always an option later on if money is an issue. but if u can afford it then hell, hi steer all the way! im not sure what the cheapest is though:doah:

Is there any reason you cant use the stock tie rod above the axle?

Yeah, pretty sure it won't fit. At least on a 10b, the arms for the tierod curve in compared to the aftermarket steering arms, so the tierod would be too short. I mean, MAYBE you could make up the difference by tweaking the adjustment sleeve way out, but then you'd have so little thread engagement that one good "boing" would kink the sleeve and you're done. :(

I'd get the arms you want, and initially keep the stock tie rod in the stock location... then add an aftermarket tierod up top. Makes it easy to adjust, actually, since you'd already be aligned =))

Go with WFO for sure!

My highsteer had to go infront of my D60 cuz of my short lift, WFO normally will put the tierod behind the D60. So make sure you figure out were you want your tierod to be before you buy the arms :D

When I went from the stock tie rod position to high steer on my D60 I had to
shorten & re-thread my tie rod
I'm using ORD steering arms & a Rock Rod tie rod.
Keep your eye out for used stuff ,that's what I did ,got a smoking deal on my X-over stuff form a guy on Pirate that went to full hydro.
Or if you don't have a deal already on your one tons ,there been quite a few
guys selling one tons already set up for less than buying all the stuff piece by
piece .Take your time shop around .

Yeah I've got a $450 deal on a set from a running truck. Right now the plan is to rebuild the axles, lock them and install. I'm definatly gonna piece my steering together.

I'm thinking WFO arms since they curve in, using the stock or a junkyard tierod and a stock pitman arm and 2wd box. Probably will buy a draglink.

Ya know, Trevor @ WFO is a great guy -- prolly worth a call to see what the tierod length would be. If it's close to stock, you could do the big tierod as an upgrade later...
