One wire alternator?

I think you have to change out the voltage regulator to a self exciting one. It sences the speed the altinator is turning to turn on.

IMO if it is for a hotrod I would do it, but if it is for your 4x4 it is better to have a voltage sencing one. supply on demand sort of thing, you wont have to worry about engine speed as much. I personaly just had problems with a one wire hook up and swamped back but that is just my 2 cents

good luck
