Why in the world would ORD offer a single tits-to-tail lift kit that's only 3"? Seems to me that 4" is probably the most common out there by far, and usually doesn't cause any major side effects (driveshaft and serious steering issues) with GM fullsizes.

They say in their ad that you'll need another 1" body lift to fit 35's (which of course they also sell...).

Am I missing something?

Wonder if they would customize the kit to the lift that you'd want. Either a 4 or 6 would only be a minor change to some components. Seems to me that this kit is the first they've offered. I definately has allowances for growth.

Yeah, I agree...but why wouldn't their first offering be what is most popular for our trucks, doesn't require any real design stretches to make happen, and would allow 35's with no body lift?

I dont see the problem. Im running 2" ROugh country lift. I was mainly looking for stiffer springs with almost no lift. THis truck is DD and I am only running 33s. So to get brand new suspension I went with 2" lift. THis also keeps me from having driveline issues, dropped Tcase, longer brake lines, new pitman arm. Everyone has their reasoning for what they do. If I went up to 35s id probably just go ahead and do 4" lift.

Liability Issues?

I would think they'd make the kit in 4 or 6 to begin with. I don't know,.....these guys have never steered me wrong.

So what, does more lift = better?

ORD sells 2,3,4 and 6" kits too. I'm sure if you wanted that whole "kit" that you posted with more lift you could call Stephen and he would be able to come up with something for you.

You don't "need" any specific amount of lift to fit any size tire. Its just a matter of how much sheet metal you want to cut.

35's fit on a 4" lift with pretty minimal trimming which is why ORD recommends that much lift for that tire size.

Your's has a nice stance :D I know you said stiffer.. but how's it flex and how rough is the ride? I'm really considering doing a 2" Rough Country spring lift in the front and a 2 1/2" shackle flip in the rear with Zero rates all around.. Don't want soft springs because whatever goes up there well be hammered on pretty good.

No, I never said that. I said that 4" is by far the most common for fullsize GM trucks. One reason it is so popular is that you can fit 35's with minimal trimming and it doesn't usually cause other major issues.

There is only one lift kit on their website (why'd you put it in the quotes of sarcasm? - they call it a kit, not me). It is 3". It says in that 3" description/ad that you will need a 1" body lift to run 35's. It just so happens  that they also sell a 1" body lift.

I prolly don't disagree, but they sure push you hard towards this 3" job plus their 1" body lift.

They make and sell quality parts in my experience. This approach just struck me as very odd.

Seems like a good kit to me, probly rides soft and flexes good also. The cost could be an issue though. I would say that it isnt going to be real cheap but you also get what you pay for.

Im not sure about the sway bar thing though. I would just toss it and run without it on.

most of us going bigger know what we want to do and will be competent to put our own kit together piece by piece depending on what we are doing. I bet this was geared for more entry level people who just want a quick nohassle kit for a mall wheeler. Kinda funny but i bought the excact same setup for my mall wheeler jimmy w/33 before this kit came out.

Mine is set up with pretty much that exact kit! 3" lift, gonna cut the fenders 'til 37's fit! ;) The PO put on the lift, I kinda wanted 4" lift but, it looks so good with the 3" lift (and it's already on there) so, just time for a Sawzall! :hack:

That doesn't mean you need a 3" suspension lift and a 1" body lift to run 35's. ORD is trying to give people a guideline for the lift they may need to run a certain tire size.

ORD reaches a very wide audience, for some people a 3" suspension lift and a 1" body lift on 35's may work perfectly.

I didn't mean to sarcastically portray anything about ORD's kits. The Watson's know pretty much everything there is to know about K5's.

I would say this is aimed for a vehicle far from a "mall wheeler".

Flexy springs in the front, shackle flip in the rear (also flexy), good shocks, all the hardware to make it work, what else do you need?

I'm only running a 3" lift. I really like it and don't want to add any more lift but plan to slap 39.5's on sometime.

I would ask the opposite question:

If a 4" kit is so common and widely available, why would ORD bother to create one?

Youll be hacking the crap out of your fenders than. :D

I already have 37's. I will not be hacking any more then already done for the 37's. I will limit up travel though and if the rub some then so be it.:D I might add a 1" body lift though to clear a clocked t case a little easier so that should help.
