well, looks like your one spinning front tire dug down to the dirt...

Time for a yank strap

A open rear diff works better on icy roads than a locker........As for driving though two + feet of snow......Not so much.

Lucky, I couldnt get stuck around here if i tried. All we got are paved roads and dirt shoulders :(

Did you air-down your tires any? With that much snow and an open axle, that'd be the thing to do while it's warming up.

My Jimmy (running 3-days straight now! Fingers crossed) has the standard 1/2-ton open 10-bolts. The (31x10.5R15) BFG KM mudders do pretty good in deep snow (less so on ice), but being a diesel, it really wants to spin at tip-in because it makes all (YMMV) its torque pretty much off-idle. When I drop down to 20 pounds or so (city driving), it really grips a lot better with signicantly less spinning.

Sometimes it helps to lightly press the break while giving it a little gas. This will help prevent that one wheel from spinning out & give more traction. I don't know if it works in the snow but it worked for me in the sand before I got a locker.

Been there done that. What size tires are you running? Looks like a nice ride.

rough country lift (3" I think...was installed by po)
31x10.5x15 Tires (Looking to swap out for a set of 33's)

I'll have to try this...Thanks

Lightly pressing the brake works in snow. I have used this trick many times including multiple times yesterday.

Lockers aren't bad on the ice. Pay attention and drive carefully and you'll be fine. Done it with two different trucks through several Northern Michigan winters and worked out just fine. I prefered it to open and limited slip diffs.

Now I moved south so it's a moot(ish) point.
