Went out for opening day of deer season yesterday with a buck tag. My friends uncle lives near the hunt area and has been scouting over the last week. He said there are lots of deer with only a few bucks spotted. He was correct.
Drove about 250 miles of trails and saw about 75-80 doe, 2 cow elk and only 2 buck deer. One of them was a small spike and the other was a 1x2 that I killed Was shooting uphill from the trail. 75 yards shot. Killed his heart and blew his spine in half with my 30-06. Also ruined about half of the backstraps. He was 85lbs on the hook after hide and head removed.
Thought about using it as a new hood ornament
