Operation HOLY RUST!!!

Looking good! You had a lot more rust to deal with so I am excited to see the progress. Subscribed!

Mine doesn't have as much rust but I like the ground up restore your doing. It takes guts to tackle something like that. Most would see the holes and walk away. There is a lot of good visuals and it helps a lot to see the progress. Keep going!

I start my V10 in a few weeks/months. I don't have nearly as much rust as you but I want to fix it all.

I subcribed to the thread.

Wow that is some rust. More then my 87' had in fact but I found a new 90' body including tailgate for $100 and he loaded it on my trailer, with almost no rust just a little on the roof between the topper and roof and of coarse ripped seat mounts.

You are doing a great job makes almost wish i went that route since I can't do that body swap myself. So I am sitting with nothing to do since I got the truck almost ready to do the swap.

sorry for the slow updates guys... work has been pretty busy with all this hot weather we have had... and being a Heating and Cooling Guy... theres some people paying alot for some A/C right now... so its kinda a feast or famine lol.. thanks for all the positive support.. and i promise i will get more done to my K5 here soon!!! my goal is to have the interior sheetmetal all set and Lined... so i can pull it outta the garage and put the tires back on it. and actually drive it some.. then slowly work on the outside sheetmetal..

welp back to work!!

and thanks again guys!! your the best!!

It's safe to do all that cutting and welding with the gas tank still in the truck, esp. when you are welding right on top of it? I was told that when ever you do any welding or cutting on the truck to drop the tank.

As long as all his fittings are sealed tight, and his vents are run properly, there isn't much risk there. Heck, I was welding on my fuel tank to fix a crack the other day. Just filled it right full with diesel and went to town on it

i thought about that when i started the project. alot of my friends were saying not to do it. so i bought a little insurance and i have a fire blanket wrapped around the fuel tank and lines. " i know it doesnt show it in the pic" but its covered up still... now the hard part of removing it lmao. before i had no problem getting to the tank, seeing there was no metal there hehe...

my digital cam went down, so i dont have pic's to post... but i have the rear situated now, and just need to get a couple of seals for the window in the tailgate. and then i can move back to the front of the truck. goal is to have it buttoned up so if need be i can move it outside the garage for a couple days, i have other projects backing up lmao. so once the other projects get done, i will bring it back inside the garage, and get to working on the front area "seating and what not" then eventually get it all scuffed down and Bedline it.. then it will finally be time to sand down the whole outside..."not looking forward to that" and get it primed and painted.. my plate is full, but im hungry :)
