I was thinking of getting a black one for my blazer, front then later on a back one. whats everyones opinion on them are they worth it, are they strong. does any one have any pictures of them on their rig :cool1: or is there another brand that you guys would recommend getting.

More like ****tybilt. Check out 4x4iron.com, or some of the other places linked to CK5. WAY cooler stuff, and much more functional...

thin tubes and paint rusts throw in about 2 years. build your own or get some fabed ones like above link.

I agree, the Smittybilt stuff is the same as the bed mounted light bars that used to be so popular - purely cosmetic (until they start to rust).

well it seems like they suck then :D

I can get a front one new for around $200 is it worth it, or should I not even bother with them? 4x4iron bumpers are badass but a little out of my price range.

well mine were free so oh well... I will keep them... the front one is bent a bit as the guy before me hit something.. you can also see a dent too on the drivers side on the front one...

personally I like em... I hate the big ass iron lookin ones.. think it looks too assy to me... I am planning on cutting a hole and mounting a roller fairlead in the front and back and put winches behind them.. well a job would be nice first...

also a big Thanks to Panther as he donated the tube bumpers....

I am going to sand them down and bed liner them... get rid of the rust and shinyness....:cool1:

thanks for the pics :waytogo:

I think they look badass, I was wondering how strong are they? how thick are the tubes are they thick enough for protection, or are they just cosmetic?

I like the look of them but 3" x .109 tubing doesnt do much good for big heavy rigs like ours.

Keep your $200, save up and add to it, 4x4Iron here you come! Speaking from experience (too many lessons, not learned the first time), buy what works best, even if you have to hold off buying it for a little while. I bought 33's because I wanted bigger tires, but couldnt afford 35s. I hate myself. Rebuilt my 350, even though for about $500 more I could have had a 383. Stupid. The list of mistakes I made in a hurry to get my truck done cheap is long and ugly. Dont be me!:frown1:

I got mine for free a fee years ago and I thought I would destroy it fairly quickly. BUt it has held up pretty good. Yeah they are thin, but is has held upto some abuse. I had mine buried in the dirt up to the flag and i thought it would have been toast, but after i got out it looked just fine.

my snorkel and rear bumper???

If you can afford $200, save a little more and get a good custom bumper. The biggest mistake is to needlessly spend money on junk. SmittyBuilt looks fine, but not very stout.

but free is for me.....
if i didnt get these for free I would still be using the stockers...

I will admit, mine has held up better than i expected it to, but thats not saying much. It is still crap, bends and dents very easily, and rusts fast with the factory paint on it. I wouldnt recomend them to anybody unless they were cheap, free, or came on the truck.

I have one on my K5 too but it came in a package deal and it is slightly more funtional than the stock chrome one. Save your pennies and buy a real bumper
