The guy I bought my '73 K-5 from, has a 250-6, 3-on-the-tree, 1974 C-10 stepside fer $1,400.00 with primer and good rocker panels, touch of rust at one fender corner and plywood fer the bed floor. Doesn't smoke a bit! :D

Yes-no?

what would you do with it? might be a high price depending on overall condition. just my opinion.

Oh, Daily Driver...parts getter................:D

if you want gas mileage find something with a 700R4 in it for the overdrive.

I've got one to put in my DD Afrika truck...............

The '74 C-10 is 6 banger, 3 speed straight drive with 3.08 rear end. That'll beat any V-8 any day, IMO..........:p:

when I bought my truck it had a 305/700R4 with 2.72 gears. it got great mileage. the key word being "GOT" now I get 2 days wheeling out of a tank.

$1400? Isn't that about 3 new truck payments these days.If it runs good I'd say thats a pretty good deal.

My 98 Sonoma with 4 cylinders of unadulterated weakness, who knows what tranny and even more obscure gearing (never bothered to check, don't even care) gets wonderful gas mileage. It's a good parts runner, 14 bolt sitting in the bed right now, and the A/C kicks ass. You could prob get something similar for about the same price.

I say get it! So Don, the beige K-5 I've rode in, you're taking it out of DD status to turn it into a really serious off-road only rig?

Oh no............just not drive it every single place I go. :wink1:

That $1,400 sounds like an awesome price too. I'm looking for a stick-shift vehicle and I'd consider getting it too, and it'd be interesting for me to give driving a 3-on the tree vehicle a try.
