Opinions on Flex-a-Lite and BeCool

I heard somewhere the windstar fans draw 300 watts (25 amps) but have no way of confirming this. On my trail truck, I just swapped in a CS144 alternator and I think the voltage regulator was bad on my old alt because when I would start the truck with the fans off the volt gauge would read 16-18 but when I turned the fans on it would drop to 12ish. Now, with the CS144, when I start it the gauge reads normal, then when I tun the fans on there is a momentay dip in voltage before it returns to normal, I can only guess this is the alternator upping its output to keep up with the fans. One thing I know for sure is that the truck is alot happier with the new 120 amp alternator than it was with the old 70 amp one. Is there any way I can test my windstar fans to see exactly how many amps they draw?

I think the statement of 80 amps is a little overblown. Running my 70 amp unit with stock GM dual fans and they don't seem to draw nearly the amount that was stated, something like 30amps. You can tell when they come on, but not that much.

However, the more draw, the better cooling I'm sure (factory application) so no matter what it works out to be, your cooling is likely to be about as good as it can be from the fans. If you don't want to skimp on stuff, I think that may be the way to go. Just me of course. :) But then again, you've heard they may not fit your setup, is that because of the narrowing?

I'd also consider going with some sort of temp switch as opposed to any sort of adjustable setup if you are looking at reliability. Again also just me, but for simplicity and reliability, one (or two) of those would be the way to go.
