I've been running Hawk HPS pads on my cars for years and been very happy with them. I'm curious if any of you guys have run any of the Hawk (HPS, LTS or SuperDuty) pads on your trucks...if so what was your experience? Was it worth it over regular pads? What rotors did you run with them? What rear drum/shoe combos have you run with them (if so equipped)?

Never heard of that brand and I've probably done 50 sets of brakes :dunno:

On the slightly higher end of things, I've had good luck with both Satisfied (probably the best bargain in brake pads IMO) and Raybestos ceramic pads.

IME, you will overheat the rotors/drums before ANY non-race brake pad will break down.

Hawk Pads are not something you get at the local parts store, they are high performance pads. That said I have heard good things about them.

If I actually drove my 98 1/2 ton more it would have Hawk Pads and some slotted rotors. Know somebody with hawk pads on his truck, said it made a world of difference.

Had 'em on my Vette w/drilled and slotted rotors and F1 tires...noticeable difference over stock.

I have Wagner on my K5 with no issues.

Yeah, I started using them on my Hondas back in high school and have put them on all of my cars since. The HPS pads are excellent for everyday/street use with slotted (NOT cross-drilled) rotors and I highly recommend them.

I have not, however, used them in a truck application so I was curious as to what others have done in this area. I'm not looking for any sort of performance modification or any high temp metallic junk(i'm not takin' this b*tch to the drag strip), just something to bring a 4700 lb chunk of steel to a stop within a reasonable distance.

According to Hawk's website you can use the HPS pads (same ones I have on my Acura) in a truck application, or you can go LTS for "off-road" or SuperDuty if you're doing a lot of hauling I guess. I'm considering either the HPS or the LTS.

On the other hand, there appears to be significantly less options for the rear shoes so I'm not sure what route to take back there.
